NEWS FOR YOUR PARENTS:
On Saturday, Jan 16 we will be having sewing/painting the floor day. Most of you kids will be painting the show floor, but I will NEED YOUR PARENTS to help me sew your flags. Even if they don't know how to sew, that's okay. I need help pinning, cutting and lots of other stuff. For any moms who do sew their help is GREATLY APPRECIATED! :) Also, if anyone has a sewing machine they can bring that would be great. Like Amber G. I think you have one, bring it if you can, thanks! Please tell your moms about this and don't forget. There is a lot of work to be done and it's too much for one person.

I'll see you all on the 5th!

Although it's not our focus right now, we have talked about it and really would like for all of you to get invloved. Sure it's early, but it's time to get modivated and love what you do. The Videos I found for you are just some quick commercals of the Winter Guard International Program... something I am highly invloved in and want to share with you. Please enjoy this video and remember how great of a chance you have to be in a community of guard members around the state who love the sport just as much as we all do.

Hello BRCG!

Heyy Guard!
--->> This is my frist post. Kinda excited. I wonder how many of you are going to read this

So here's the deal.
The seasons almost over... and I know you have all been working your butts off and I wanted to thank you all for your hard work. I think this whole performace thing isn't easy so please know your hard work does not go unnoticed. I wanted to share with you this fantastic video I've watched hundreds of times of a group called BLAST! If you never heard of them, they are a professional team consisiting of a small horn line, drum line, and color guard who tour all over the world performing. They are were the best of the best when they marched drum corps the last few years.

This video is from their tour 2 years ago, the song is called "Malaguena" and it's a firce, strong, and brilliant performace. They also include red swing flags and weapons in the color guard so I would love for everyone to watch how they give off an attitude with they perform. It's something we are lacking on but I have faith we can work on it. Please take a few moments of your time to watch this. I know you will not be disappointed.

Thank you.
Love Ashley

Inspiration

Watch how much energy is in each of their practices. They have very demanding work but still keep their energy and put everything into it in practice!

This is a Mia Michaels class. Even though they had all just learned this routine and weren't sure of every more they put their whole bodies into it. They extended and used all their muscles. This is what we need to see in that opening dance work and what we're going to put in the ballad! Practice it at home! :)

We're going to have more posts so keep checking!!!

Mandatory wednesday practice!!!

via Jordyn:

Mr. Carrier would like to have a guard rehearsal this wednesday, October 14th, from 2pm to 5pm. We will be working with Mr. Kerstin, and will be improving segments of the show. this rehearsal is very vital, and obviously needed. Mr. Carrier wants the majority, if not ALL of the color guard there. we will be having dinner after the rehearsal at Hungry Howies at 5:15. Please spread the word, as i also will be tomorow at school. Please please please do everything you can do to be at this rehearsal. its very important, and we dont want to waste Mr. Kerstins or Mr. Carrier's time. you can do your homework before or after rehearsal, as the Hungry Howies dinner is not mandatory. Thank you guard! Tell all the rest of the guard. Thank you!!

Make up!!!!!

You know you look good!

Venice Show

Okay so even though we weren't that happy with the show, lets take the opportunity to learn from our mistakes!

I’m working on uploading the video, it’s a big file so it keeps getting interrupted. I’ll keep trying…I watched the show several times and part, I repeat PART of the reason we didn't do so hot was you guys just aren't very familiar with the new drill for the beginning of song 2. I've looked at it and we're going to change it around (again sorry) so that everyone has the same counts. I'll even post them on here so you can write them in your dot books for Tuesday's rehearsal! Aren't I so sweet! :)

Now the other Part was there was a lack of energy in the show. I understand it's hard when you're confused, but you have to perform no matter what! I once saw a Winterguard whose CD skipped during the show, then completely stopped. The show was a cat and mouse theme and all the guard were mice. When the music stopped they all kept acting like mice, staying in character until their instructor told them to reset. That is what we need to see, you need to stay in character no matter what happens. If somebody drops a flag, if someone falls, if a band member knocks you...no matter what it is you have to stay in character and perform. You guys have been working on this flagwork since the summer, there should be no looking around to see what the work is. If you don't know something...FOR THE LOVE OF PETE COME ASK ME DURING PRACTICE! I will gladly show you, that is mine and Pierre's job!

A couple little things that we're going to get to this week:
- MacKenzie I'm going to write your solo
- We're going to define Pierre's fabulous body work so it's easier to understand.
- I'm giving you new counts for beginning of song 2, see below
- We're going to clean the heck out of the end of song 2, you’ll see the tosses on the video...it looks like a ripple effect gone bad. They're supposed to be together!
- Jacob I think the reason your 6 doesn't stand out is there is nothing leading to it. So we're going to write work leading up to the 6 and up to the barrel roll.
- I'm also going to start writing the work for song 3 this weekend.

Don't beat yourselves up too bad about this show, watching it again it does have some nice moments. You guys are so awesome and you really have been working hard. I know it's frustrating in the blazing heat and when you're tired. But I PROMISE if you guys put in the work you will be marching at the dome. There is no better feeling than marching there. And you know what, I think you guys could even win your caption. You have amazing work written for you and 4 of us eager and willing to help. Have a great break over the weekend. Think about some of your work. If you didn't take a flag home, grab a broom and start going over the work outside, even if it's only for 15 minutes. Think about where your hit points are and how you can make your body PERFORM. We're going to have a GREAT rehearsal this week guys, just bring the energy to practice for us please!

I got a feelin'...that next week's gonna be a good good week!

Song 2: I’m starting with the hold 4 transition from song 1 to song 2, right after the body work ends

Hold 4 – Everybody jazz run to front
Move 8 – 2nd & 3rd groups finish running to front counts 1-4. Count 5 the 1st section stands up over 4 counts.
Move 16 – 1st section jazz run to drill dot. Body work starts on count 9
Move 12 – 1st group flagwork starts. 2nd group jazz runs to drill
Move 12 – 2nd group flagwork starts. 3rd group jazz runs to drill (jazz running super fast!)
Move 12 – 3rd group flagwork starts.
